The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is committed to working with medical, surgical and oncological clinical services, research and education by utilizing a variety of technical modalities (e.g., CT, MRI, ultrasound and x-rays) to detect, screen, diagnose and characterize diseases, as well as perform minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under imaging guidance.
The Abdominal Radiology team provides expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal and pelvic disease. Our Body MR imaging specialization is the unique strength providing the foundation for our excellent clinical service.
The Cardiothoracic Radiology Division delivers precision-focused diagnostic imaging using advanced CT and MRI technologies. Our board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists specialize in evaluating complex cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions, supporting care across emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
The Emergency Radiology Division provides attending radiologist service to the Emergency Medicine Department. We collaborate to provide the best critical care to patients at Banner University Medicine -Tucson (BUMC-T) and Banner University Medicine - South (BUMC-S). Our team has the expertise in trauma and acute care imaging needed to care for the most time-sensitive, critically sick patients.
The Interventional Radiology Division functions much like a surgical subspecialty team offering outpatient consultations, pre/post-visit coordination and inpatient care. Use of the latest, cutting-edge technologies and facilities allow our team to perform the entire range of vascular and nonvascular procedures to treat an exceptionally wide range of diseases and conditions in adult and pediatric patients.
The Musculoskeletal Radiology Division at the University of Arizona and Banner – University Medical Center Tucson offers state-of-the-art imaging technology and subspecialty expertise to deliver outstanding patient care in all areas of musculoskeletal radiology. The team provides advanced imaging and procedures to diagnose and treat patients with bone, joint and soft tissue disorders.
The Neuroradiology team provides expert imaging and interventional therapy for diseases and characterization of abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous system, spine and head and neck. Our experts strive to use the best, shortest and most effective scanning techniques and MR protocols are standardized for improved throughput, scan quality and patient comfort levels.
The Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics Division uses small amounts of radioactive materials to image specific organ or system functions within the body. The same methods are used to treat disease, and to evaluate lung cancer, cancer of the head and neck, lymphoma and melanoma. Our vast array of exams search for disease at the molecular level in nearly every organ of the body. Our Banner-University Medical Center Theranostic Center is designated as an SNMMI Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence - the first in the state of Arizona.
The Pediatric Radiology Division at the Diamond Children’s Center is dedicated to clinical excellence in serving the special needs of children and their families. Our team is steadfastly committed to accurate, thorough, and expedient imaging while minimizing medical radiation exposure to children.
